Vans X Boys Of Summer (For Hard To Do Tricks)

Jeff Kutter’s Boys of Summer videos remain some of the best homie productions out there. Boys of Summer I and II are the visual equivalent to Don Henley’s titular song which somehow produces nostalgia for something you’ve never really experienced yourself. So even if you’ve never stood on a skateboard (in which case: how the fuck did you end up reading this?), watching the BoS videos, you feel as though you’ve been part of their sessions. Now, Boys of Summer has teamed up with Vans to release a series of skate shoes. The collection includes the Old School Skate, the Rowan Pro, and the Varix WC, all co-branded to evidence their collaborative provenance. But wait, what’s a Varix WC, you ask? No, it’s not a new Pokémon. Essentially, the Varix is Vans’s contribution to the ongoing 90’s shoe craze. It’s got all the layers and thick padding and weird angles you’d expect from a pair of 90’s kicks. The Varix has been around for some time now, but it has only now been released as a dedicated skate shoe. Besides the collaborative effort with Vans, the Boys of Summer drop also includes their brand new “Hard 2 Do” collection. Staying true to their creative direction, which essentially consists of ripping off logos from brands unrelated to skateboarding, the collection includes a variety of hoodies, t-shirts, and caps. This time, Boys of Summer even took on big pharma, using Pfizer’s well-established logo as a back print on their hoodies. If you’re undecided on what to wear to your first COVID vaccination, don’t look any further. The collection even includes a coffee mug that looks like it was made by someone who got their hands stuck in a pair of Varix. By the way, the “Hard 2 Do” collection is only available at select shops that include BoS in their regular lineup. Which is to say that it ain’t exactly growing on trees, so hurry up. You can buy the Vans X Boys of Summer stuff at our web shop and our store in Frankfurt from tomorrow may 26.
