Fucking Awesome’s spring/summer collection arrived the other day, and, much like our other brands, dives head-first into the wonderful world of pattern design. Yet, what separates Fucking Awesome’s approach to repeated decorative design is the brand’s signature dark tone, which resonates even though the graphics on the t-shirts and pants in themselves aren’t particularly dark or morbid: the stork with a cloth bundle in its beak, for instance. We can’t put our finger on it, but maybe it’s in the graphic’s color palette that is slightly unsettling. Or maybe it’s because this season’s deck collection is headlined by a re-interpretation of the poster art of Peter Jackson’s cult horror film Dead Alive. Anyway, with FA, we always get the feeling that something’s slightly off. When they’re encouraging us to “see the world with new eyes,” we’re inclined to believe FA wants to brainwash us into their nihilistic world-view. Well, already believe that existence is pain, so the joke’s on you, Jason Dill! That said, FA is the go-to brand for folks who can’t abide by colorful happy camper fashion, and we think that’s fair. You can buy FA’s new collection at our web shop and at our store in Frankfurt.
