There’s a first time for everything: landing a kickflip, getting shitfaced, losing one’s virginity. While we’ve crossed off two of those things from our bucket list (we won’t tell you which ones, though), we’re happy that skateboarding is full of first times. To us, offering New Balance’s skate collection Numeric is such a first time. Although we’ve always been fans of the US sportswear manufacturer, we’ve never dared to skate classics like 620s or 574s, although we certainly wondered how it would be like if we did. After all, New Balance was founded in all the way back 1906 and is thus one of the most experienced and respected sportswear companies worldwide. Luckily, with Numeric, the times of uncertainty are over. Inspired by running shoes, yet designed specifically for the physically demanding act of skateboarding, the Numeric collection features a variety of skate shoes for every taste. The versatility of Numeric’s line-up is reflected by its team roster, which includes top-class skateboarders like PJ Ladd, a personal favorite and tech-wizard, Arto Saari, Finnish skateboarding legend, and Tom Knox, who makes the UK’s roughest spots look like Disneyland. The list goes on, of course, and looking at the pro team makes evident the care New Balance took to build a skateboarding brand from the ground up. We can’t wait to skate the shoes. And, hopefully, wearing New Balance Numeric will help us cross that last item off our list. Can you guess which one it is?
