Mark Gonzales never used a corporate handbook to pave the way for modern street skating, he did it through raw anarchy, sheer intuition, and unfiltered curiosity. That exact same unapologetic mindset runs through all of his artwork, from spontaneous poems scribbled on paper plates to his iconic sculptures. For the third iteration of his Superstar ADV, the Gonz straight-up stripped the sacred three stripes off the side panels, swapping them out for minimalist Stan Smith-style perforations. Instead, he slapped his hand-drawn Shmoo ghost characters as colorful suede patches across the pitch-black leather in a completely asymmetrical layout. This is not some polished collector piece meant to sit quietly on a display shelf, it is a genuine skate shoe built to catch scars from rough curbs and gritty grip tape.
