During the early to mid-2000s, animal patterns were all the rage. Folks back then flexed elephant prints, tiger stripes, and leopard designs like they were extras in the Lion King musical. Closely related to the animal print is Nike’s exclusive, vaguely animalistic Safari pattern that was particularly popular among sneaker enthusiasts at the time. One of Nike’s most successful collaborations, the Nike Air Max 1 Atmos Safari, featured the popular design. It is still being sold for more than $1k on reselling platforms. Now, Nike SB tries to follow up on the Atmos collaboration’s success by releasing a Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ISO (Orange Label) Safari that features the very same Safari pattern and color scheme. Initially slated for release last year in November, the shoes are now scheduled to drop on March 14. The Safari Dunk’s upper comes with suede side panels, alternating Swooshes (ochre and dark green), a canvas toe box, black laces, and of course the Safari pattern. Unlike the Travis Scott Dunk, this one’s a shoe for sneaker veterans that can trace the shoe’s history back to its origins in the noughties. Which of course doesn’t mean y’all shouldn’t be prepared for this thing to sell out like ivory. We feel it would be highly entertaining to keep with the shoe’s aesthetic and organize the launch in such a way that it’s more like The Hunger Games meets The Island of Dr. Moreau. Alas, nobody cares what we think. So instead of participating in a Furry battle royale, you’ll just have to make sure you’re here on time. You can buy the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro Safari at our store in Frankfurt on March 14.
