New York’s skateboarding wunderkind and SOTY 2018, Tyshawn Jones, is getting his first pro model on Adidas Skateboarding. It’s a mid-top shoe that’s somewhat reminiscent of the 3ST line, and it comes with all the technological wizardry Adidas is capable of. The green suede upper is contrasting nicely with the gum midsole and the white outsole, while the gold foil accents give the shoe a distinctly luxurious appearance. Here’s a fun fact, though: When Tyshawn was given the task of working with former Pro-Skater and Adidas Footwear Design Director, Scott Johnston, to think through the design of his Pro shoe, his choice fell on a mid-top model. Adidas tried persuading him to ditch the mid in favor of a low-top, arguing that lows generally sell better. However, it’s not Adidas’ numbers department that’s doing wait-high tre flips over Bronx handrails, so Tyshawn’s mid-top prevailed.
