Call Me 917 x Nike SB Capsule Collection

Chances are you’ve heard of Call Me 917, the hottest, hippest and most stylish brand ever to come out of NYC, the origin of all the world’s coolness, the epicenter of cutting edge apparel and the melting pot of skateboarding and fashion. 917’s founder Alex Olson conceived the brand as a skateboarding-focused side project to his acclaimed fashion brand Bianca Chandon, which to this day is only available at select fashion stores. Likewise, Call Me 917 can only be found at select skate shops that are deemed worthy, either because they’re cool enough or, like in our case, have signed a treaty in blood with the fashion demon. Thus, we’re very excited to celebrate the release of the Call Me 917 x Nike SB Capsule Collection at our store this coming Saturday, September 17 – which also coincides with the conclusion of our Jam of Mainhattan, so drinks, food and music are on us.
Anyway, leave it to Alex Olson – everyone’s favorite skaterboarder-cum-runway-model – to design a capsule collection for Nike SB inspired by tennis and country club attire and use a fucking legendary basketball shoe as its centerpiece. Hey Alex, when you’re done merging sports and sewing together mice and parrots to create some sort of unholy flying rodent, would you kindly explain why you chose the Blazer Low GT, itself being already a hybrid between skateboarding and basketball sneaker, for a tennis-themed capsule collection? Well, we’re ready to admit that they look pretty fucking sleek, and they’re fitting perfectly to the rest of the collection, which consists of short-sleeved and long-sleeved polo shirts, shorts and caps. And yes, they’re classier than European society during the Industrial Age. But come on, playing tennis in basketball shoes is like playing Polo on an ostrich – we don’t say it can’t be done, but it certainly looks unorthodox. However, we recommend you to skate the Blazers, anyway. Trick your rich and bored auntie from the Country Club into buying you the whole pack by claiming that you’ve matured now and that playing tennis is your new calling. Then proceed to switch k-grind the shit out of her Porsche’s headlights while she’s getting wasted with Long Island Iced Teas. You can buy the Call Me 917 x Nike SB capsule collection at our store and online from September 17, 2016.
