In times when print magazines cut down on both staff and issues, it’s always great to see some zines still alive and kicking. For instance, Free Skateboard Magazine, headed by Will Harmon, Arthur Derrien, and Sam Ashley, defies the slow but steady decline of the print business. Formerly working at Kingpin, Sam and Will were laid off when the magazine went online-only (and thus belly-up, in our opinion). Headquartered in Hackney, London, UK, Free Mag proves that physical copies of articles and photos have a unique quality that can’t be replicated in the endless, intangible void of the digital; in fact, the very finiteness of a piece of printed paper makes a magazine more valuable than ones and zeros could ever be. Let’s get down to brass tacks, though, and talk about the small run of tees Free Magazine just put out: the Lotti B-Ball t-shirt, designed by Brian Lotti, and the Marrakech t-shirt, designed by Free Mag staff. Both designs - the former showing an impressionist’s view of a basketball scene, the latter a camel caravan crossing the desert - are pretty colorful and summery, so if you’re deep into that fall blues already, you might wanna cop one of them bad boys. Both tees are screen-printed by hand, by the way. You can buy the Free Mag t-shirts at our web shop and our store in Frankfurt.
