Jason Dill is what you could call skateboarding’s mad scientist. He has weird hairdos, says weird shit, and comes up with all sorts of crazy ideas. While many skaters fancy themselves as artistically gifted, most of them simply don’t have the clout to turn their creative, uh, outbursts into reality. Jason Dill, on the other hand, has considerable influence in the industry, and so he’s successfully persuaded Adidas Skateboarding to realize two original shoe designs: the Experiment 1 and Experiment 2. Both feel as if Dill had simply thrown parts of different shoes in a blender and cranked the thing up to 11. The Experiment 1 is reminiscent of 80’s sneakers, complete with black stripe overlays, mesh, lugs, and round laces that give the Experiment 1 a technical feel. In addition, the Experiment 1 comes with an Adidas Indoor Super sole. The Experiment 2, on the other hand, veers closer into skateboarding proper, its white layered full-grain upper being inspired by 90’s skate shoes. Both shoes come with custom FA and Adidas co-branding: the E1 features an appropriately 80’s looking graphic on its tongue label while the E1’s tongue sticks out for its display of several national flags. It’s not exactly a cure against resell cancer, but then again, there ain’t no vaccine against being late to the party, either. You can buy Fucking Awesome and Adidas Skateboarding’s Experiment 1 and 2 at our web shop and our store in Frankfurt from February 20.
