Hélas Caps is a company with roots in skateboarding, which you’d be forgiven to forget, seeing as they go out of their way to present their collections in anything but skateboarding-related contexts. That’s perfectly fine with us. After all, who doesn’t want to look like the world’s most sophisticated carny? Hélas gets away with a look that screams “Russian housing projects” because they’re actually not in Russia, but in Lyon. We tried standing in front of strip clubs and cutting Döner meat before, but all we got was a black eye and a bunch of cropped finger tips. We now know why: we just wore the wrong outfit. In full Hélas “Barrio Mambo” gear, we were be treated with anything but respect and got Döners for free. Being frisked twice by the 5-0 on our way home was a downer, but the Döners sure were tasty.
