If there’s one thing that’s as sure as death and taxes, it’s that people will do anything for cash. Since the first Jam of Mainhattan was held back in 2016, we’ve been shamelessly exploiting your desire for making a quick buck for fun, and we sure as hell won’t miss the chance this year. That’s why we’re inviting y’all to attend this year’s deathma…, ahem, Jam of Mainhattan – where you get the chance to throw yourself at spots for some sweet Euros! Here’s the drill: as usual, we’re going to hit three consecutive spots, and each spot has an assigned budget. From that budget, we’ll hand out money to everyone daring enough to perform a banger or two at the respective spot. Once the allocated money is depleted, we move on to the next spot. We’re starting at the 8 stairs set on Mainzer Landstraße 293 and will continue to the wavy ledges on François-Mitterand-Platz. The final spot will be the infamous Hauptwache, were Alex Ullmann has prepared a kicker for you to jump up the central plateau. If that’s too lame for your daring ass, you’re welcome to max out your risk/reward by taking on the adjacent double set. Sound good?
Oh, and this year’s Jam of Mainhattan will be visited by the excellent skaters from the Nike SB Dabb Ma Labskaus Germany tour: taking the Labskaus Jam, a Hamburg skate event that took place last week, as the starting point, the team (which includes our own Tim Thomas) will participate in the Jam of Mainhattan - so even if you can’t tell what’s nose or tail, you’ll be in for a treat. And by the way: we’re kicking off this year’s Jam by hosting a party at our store in Sachsenhausen on Saturday, September 15. There will be free beer. You will also be able to compete in shootin’ hoops. So fucking get over here.
