"Nicaragua“ by Jacob Harris for Grey Skateboard Magazine

Have you ever bitched about your hometown’s skate spots being shitty? About the asphalt being a little too coarse? And your skate park sucks, too, right? You probably had wet dreams about living in Barcelona or Malmö or some other skateboarding paradise. And who’s to blame you? Ain’t no shame in wishing for a better world for skateboarding. Well, we’re sorry to break it to you, but perfect marble ledges don’t grow on trees. Adapting to your environment is key to live a happy skateboarder’s life. What won’t kill you only makes you stronger, wouldn’t you agree? The idea of growing along with one’s challenges might have been one of the driving forces behind Grey Skateboard Magazine’s and Converse CONS recent field trip to one of the most unlikely places to toy around with a skateboard: Nicaragua.
The small entourage, consisting of Remy Taveira, Mike Arnold and Sylvain Tognelli, was accompanied by Jacob Harris who shot and edited the whole trip. The video you’re about to see is more a travel report than a skateboard video sui generis. It’s a visual diary of an adventure to the heart of Central America. And although the spots are rough and the tropical wetness is weighing down on the small group, they seem to have a jolly good time. The satisfaction of achievement in spite of all the environmental hardships is written across their bronzed, perspiring faces. So next time you start whining about shitty flatground, do yourself a favor and watch this video.
