For all their reported hedonistic, anarchistic, and individualistic attitudes, skateboarders are tied together by the bond of a shared passion. Sure, we don’t always get along that well, and some make a habit of self-imposed isolation in an effort to distinguish themselves; in the end, however, we all are connected by the same dream: having fun skating, and enjoying ourselves hanging with the homies.
In 2013, diabetes ended that dream for Lewis Marnell. The Nike SB pro skater was beloved and looked up to by many for his good nature and skill, and he appeared in many memorable videos with tricks that never fail to blow our minds. His effortless style was mimicked by many and matched by few, and anyone who’s seen him skating live or on tape can’t help but feel the urge to go skating right away. 2018 marks the 5th anniversary of Lewis’ passing, and Nike SB re-releases his favorite shoe, originally referred to as the Nike SB “Wheat.” The shoe has been updated with an oistrich-skin ankle, an extra pair of laces inspired by Rasta culture, and an embossed lion graphic on the heel. It’s appropriate that all proceeds will be donated to a diabetes research foundation. Lewis might’ve lost his fight, but the war against the malicious sickness is far from over.
You can buy the Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro “Lewis Marnell” both at our web shop and at our store in Frankfurt from January 18.
