New Orleans-based skate shop Humidity teamed up with Nike SB to create what is probably the world’s first official instance of Jazz-inspired footwear. To celebrate the Big Easy’s 300th birthday, Humidity comes out swinging with a metallic Dunk High that looks like a Saxophone had sex with the Michelin Man at last year’s Mardi Gras. Seriously, Humidity’s Dunk High is the most glaring pair of shoes we’ve seen in years, probably since Nike SB’s wild days in the early noughties. Its metallic gold colored leather upper is the eye catcher, sure, but there’s a lot more to love about this shoe. The adorable red bow tie adorning the laces, for example. Or its translucent outsole revealing musical notes beneath. Or the velvet lining, paying homage to the interior of instrument cases (and recalling the Mafia Dunks from back in the day that had a similar design feature). It’s a flashy tribute to a city that, despite its fair share of catastrophe and poverty, has always managed to find happiness in the power of Jazz. You can buy the Nike SB x Humidity Dunk High at our web shop and at our store in Frankfurt from September 21.
