This year’s Nike SB Dunk releases sure are hairier than Richie Jackson’s armpits. Next to the release of the pilose Grateful Dead Dunk Low, Nike has invited longtime partner Medicom Toy to collaborate on the elusive model. Medicom, a Japanese toy manufacturer founded in 1996, is one of the most popular brands among streetwear folks. As a matter of fact, if someone says they’re a sneakerhead, chances are they’ve got at least one Medicom toy sitting on a shelf somewhere in their home. The most famous Medicom toy model is the Be@rbrick, an anthropomorphized bear that lends itself perfectly to collaborations (of which, as expected, there are more than there are stars in the sky). Back in 2006, Nike SB and Medicom released the Three Bears Pack, which featured three colorful (and equally hairy) Dunk models. To date, the Three Bears Pack remains one of Nike SB’s most sought-after releases. Aptly dubbed “BE@RBRICK,” the most recent Medicom Toy x Nike SB Dunk Low OG comes with a black hairy faux fur upper sitting atop a white and grey sole. At the heel, the black upper is interrupted by a patch of beige hair. Also, Medicom’s @ symbol inside the outlines of a bear’s face was added to the tongue label and the lateral sides as a token of co-branding. Notably, the release includes adult-sized Dunks, as well as versions for kids and toddlers. You can get the Medicom Toy x Nike SB Dunk Low OG in our web shop and in our store in Frankfurt.
