Polar Skate Co. Fall 2016

Polar Skate Co. Fall 2016

After a rather short summer, we’re headed straight towards winter, and given the dropping temperatures, it’s crucial to get stocked up on the appropriate gear for the season. Luckily, a fresh drop from Polar just reached our doorsteps, containing a bunch of winter clothing that will keep you warm during day and night sessions.

It’s always nice to open up a delivery from Polar: over the years Pontus Alv’s company really grew on us, which is owed particularly to their straightforward, minimalist approach to designing high-quality apparel and skateboards (not to mention their sick team and skate videos). This time around, Polar releases their most mature collection yet, consisting of sophisticated items and muted colors.

Maybe the two most outstanding items are the zip-up sweater and the mock-neck pullover. Their sleek looks make for a great attribution to your winter wardrobe, giving it just the right amount of sartorial reticence the Swedish brand is known for. It seems Polar has somewhat deviated from ill-fitting 90s cuts, favoring knitted pullovers over oversized sweaters. Of course, the collection also boasts a bunch of hoodies; however, the minimalist front-and-center Polar embroidery again is more reminiscent of timeless sportswear than 90s normcore apparel.

The maturity of the drop notwithstanding, Pontus’ artistic vein again has a strong influence on the t-shirts prints. The roses print you may have already seen on Polar boards makes a comeback, featured as a bright backprint reminiscent of Technicolor processing. To top it all off, the drop also features two hip bags with a zip pocket and Polar embroidery for all that stuff you need to carry around from spot to spot.

In summary, we love the grown-up look of the drop and we think that it’s nice to see a break from the graphics-on-steroids that dominated skate apparel over the last months. Like red wine, it seems that Polar only gets better with age, and we’re excited what the brand’s plans for the future are. That being said, you can buy the recent Polar drop both online and in store now.
