While we’re kicking our heels waiting for the next year to finally roll around, Nike SB and Copenhagen-based street wear brand Soulland have been working on ending 2017 with a bang. Given the incredible success of their first collaboration, it’s hardly surprising that the Danes and Nike SB sat together to create a new FRI.day collection – and this time, they really went all out. The first collection stood out for its creative, albeit rather tame take on the Nike SB’s Koston 1 and 3 models. It was fresh, but you could tell that there was still untapped potential. For the all-new FRI.day Part 2 collab Soulland designers were granted considerably more creative freedom, and they made sure to live up to everyone’s sky-high expectations. And boy, did they succeed. Deconstructing the classic Dunk Low and Dunk High, Soulland turned the familiar models into something almost completely new.
The Dunk Low saw the most significant changes: for one, Soulland removed the Swoosh completely. No outlining stitches, no tone-in-tone printing – the Swoosh’s gone. It got scaled down and moved to the toebox, were it’s now sitting on black leather, surrounded by a Flyknit and suede upper. The sole’s completely white, and the black laces are only accentuated by the collab’s signature bright blue tips. The white and cream-colored Dunk High not only retains the Swoosh but also features a second, smaller one on top. Again, the leather and Flyknit upper sits atop a white sole, and the two-tone laces are accentuated by bright blue tips. And that’s not the end of it, either: the collection continues with a deconstructed version of another Nike classic, the Destroyer jacket, and further features a t-shirt a hoodie and some trackpants. All items succeed in recreating the first collection’s distinctive look that was defined by displaced Nike SB, FRI.day and Swoosh logos, while adding a unique dimension of their own. The whole line-up’s gonna sell out quickly, so you better be prepared. You can cop the Nike SB x Soulland “FRI.day Part 2” capsule collection both in our web store and at our shop in Frankfurt from December 15.
