Sometimes we’re exhausted by the vicissitudes of the fashion and retail business. Deadlines, delivery complications, returns – the list of things to cope with is long and arduous. It’s moments like these that we turn to the Quiet Life, one of our most cherished brands, to remind ourselves that there is power in calmness. The Quite Life encompasses the very concept of strength gained from tranquility: it’s a refreshingly unagitated brand, standing out by virtue of phlegmatic reticence, and not by obtrusive image campaigns. Grounded by their belief in artistic creativity, the Quiet Life has proven time and again that you don’t need a hype to flourish healthily. If fashion is like weather in April – unpredictable and sometimes unnervingly erratic – the Quiet Life’s Spring collection is our lightning rod.
As you’ve come to expect from the good folks at the QL, this drop again features a solid dose of five and six panel caps. They’re all coming in easy-to-wear colors (this being Spring, they’re on the lighter side of the color spectrum) and minimalist branding. The “Simple” 5 panel cap, for example, available in black, white and a light red, features The Quiet Life tonal print lettering. The “Foundation” 5 panel comes in navy, a black and a light pink and features the brand’s minimalist label stitched to the front. All in all, the colors match the current trends and are highly compatible to most outfits. The Quiet Life’s essentialism stretches across to their print game which is literally reducing the brand’s name to its initials: the “Periodic” t-shirts and crewneck sweaters feature large “QL” prints reminiscent of the abbreviations for elements on the periodic table. Similarly contained is the design of the “Pen and Ink” shirt, coming in charcoal and white: simple cursive lettering and low contrast make it the most minimalist item of the drop. However, the QL is also capable of playful graphics: the Boob Dog t-shirt (made in the US of A) features a small doggie print on its chest pocket. And yes, it’s a dog with tits for eyes.
In spit of all this simplicity, this drop’s most outstanding item is the City Limits Pullover Jacket. It’s a white lightweight windbreaker with elastic straps for adjustment and large “The Quiet Life” lettering on the front zipper cover. Aside from being the perfect match for rainy April weather, the City Limits jacket provides a nice contrast to the rest of the collection, while still retaining the QL’s linear approach to design. In conclusion, if you’re looking for something original yet mature, this drop is for you.
